Sustainability in the Horse World: Top 5 Brands for Equestrians
As awareness of environmental issues grows, more equestrians are seeking ways to make their riding lifestyle more sustainable—without compromising on quality or performance. In this post, we’ll cover the effects of fast fashion as well as equestrian brands that are promoting a greener future. Here’s Sustainability in the Horse World: Top 5 Brands for Equestrians.
Gone are the days of tailor-made garments and shoes made by the local cobbler. And while gluttony and consumerism invade the homes of Americans, equestrians brands also cut corners to provide trendy attire for their narrow market. But while these businesses look to meet consumer demands through outsourcing production to overseas companies, they fail to see that these same companies are underpaying, abusing, and forcing their workers to live in poor conditions.
But fast fashion doesn’t just harm those in the factories, it’s also one of the biggest contributors to the epitome of earth’s destruction: pollution. If consumers cannot take a stand against the role fast fashion plays in the health of the world and those who live in it, then pollution will continue to spread as factories continue to produce.
While equestrianism is a niche sport with few opportunities to majorly contribute to the fashion industry, every consumer has a responsibility to be accountable and prolong their garments’ lifespan. We want to keep our lands clean for our horses’ wellbeing after all.
The first step we can take is critically evaluating the brands we are purchasing from; luckily, I’ve already found the top 5 brands that are eco-friendly and sustainable!
